Ten - make that sixty - second me
Alright
- my computer is going to spend some quality time with my favorite
computer-fixing girl geek so I won't have my obligatory post-BlogHer07
post up for a while. In the meantime, enjoy my "blog me" introduction
post that I couldn't post before the conference given that I couldn't
turn on my computer.
I couldn't hold it to 10 seconds because I'm kinda chatty. I'll put 10 seconds here and if you're curious click on read more for the remaining 50 seconds. (note: Vox does not have a "read more" break)
My reality show could be called Maria Niles is 45 and Single but would not be.
My autobiography could be called "Undercover Black Woman" and probably will be if I ever write it.
I've lived in about a dozen cities, had multiple careers, met quite a few celebrities and have a million stories. I like to say I'm a mile wide and an inch deep because I know a little bit about a lot of things.
I've
been accused of being brainy just because I went to graduate school for
6 years (including one in Chicago with another BlogHer speaker - she couldn't make the conference - can
you get Scavenger Hunt
points if you can get a picture of us together? I don't think so but
find me because I can probably hook you up in 4 of the actual point
categories), left with 2 Master's degrees and almost got a Ph.D. until
I dropped out. But I watch a ridiculous amount of television, am
embarrassingly well versed in pop culture and used to carry my tiny dog
around in my purse, so I have street cred - um, Melrose Ave. street
cred?
I'm a hermit and introverted and sometimes overcompensate for the hermit/introverted thing so if I'm a little frightening in my enthusiasm to meet you - really, I'm not that scary. If I seem insufficiently enthusiastic see again the hermit/introvert part. (edited to add: post conference I'll add exhausted and in a fog)
There's a good chance I've read your blog and therefore feel like I know you and an even better chance you haven't read mine and have no idea who I am so again you might find me a tad overwhelming. Mocha Momma - I'm looking for you. :) (updated to add: I met her - yay!)
So, clearly I'm neurotic, have a crazy range of interests, am super excited about BlogHer and about meeting you!
