Please to explain? Will Jon Stewart Mime?
So, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert along with the other late night hosts are coming back in January even though there is no indication that the writer's strike will be settled by then. I understand the dilemma they are caught in - the hosts are contractually obligated, several of them are paying their staff's salaries out of their own pocket and though the writers are on strike, the rest of the staff are forced to be out of work because the hosts are honoring the picket line.
So Jay and Dave and Conan will have to carry their interviews with stars on their own. One of the ways I make a living is asking questions. I'd be happy to give them lessons :-) But here is a conundrum I can't resolve.
According to this report:
"Fox said because both Stewart and Colbert are WGA members, they are barred from penning any material, even for themselves, that their staff writers would normally handle."
Sooooo... does that mean that they have to improv half their shows? Expand the interviews? Sit around with their supporting players and riff? Does it only count as writing if you write it down? Will Stewart and Colbert channel their inner Marcel Marceau?
Please share your answers and ideas.

I'm sure Stewart and Colbert will be great no matter what but I just thought it odd that they can't write for themselves so apparently uttering funny stuff spontaneously without writing it down first... my head hurts.
But, yeah, just get 'em started and it will be a nighttime, mostly male version of The View. It will be fascinating to watch.
Might be tougher for Leno and Letterman, though. I wish they would resolve the strike though because I despair the thought of living in a world where my TV viewing choices are Clash of the Choirs, Duel, Celebrity Apprentice, I Love New York 47 and Tila tries Polygamy.
Yes, new shows/episodes would be great. Lord knows I have NO interest in Tila anything!
And can I infer from your comment that you and TG don't yet have a ginormous TV? I'll have to pop over to your blogs and see ;-)
We do have cable HD and a DVR which we both forget to use.
And, yay - the TV survived, excellent!
