African American Lives 2
I'm looking forward tonight to the debut of African American Lives 2 on PBS. I very much enjoyed the first installment of this series from Harvard Professor Henry Louis "Skip" Gates. The journey he takes those whose DNA and genealogy are explored is fascinating. The personal impact learning their history and ancestry has on those profiled is powerful to watch.
Don't think if you are not African American somehow this is not for you. This is fascinating living human history, period.
Plus, this one promises to be even more fascinating:
“These stories are much more in-depth than those in ‘African-American Lives,’ ” Mr. Gates said in a recent telephone interview. “Then, a lot of documents had not been digitized, and we’ve learned to interpret the DNA testing better, with more subtlety and sophistication.”
The show airs from 9-11 pm on many PBS stations but check your local listings.
